Why visit with Amarna Tours?

The greatest open-air museum on Earth — brought to life

Discover Karnak Temple — the largest religious complex ever built by human hands. This UNESCO World Heritage Site surpasses even the Vatican in sheer scale and grandeur. Marvel at the legendary Hypostyle Hall with its 134 colossal columns rising like giant papyrus stems toward the sky, each covered in vibrant hieroglyphs carved 3,200 years ago.

"A journey through 3,000 years of history — where pharaohs were worshipped as gods and monuments were built for eternity." — Amarna Tours, Luxor

Continue to the enchanting Luxor Temple, standing on the Nile's East Bank, and walk the recently restored Avenue of Sphinxes (Al-Kabbash Road) — a 3-kilometre processional way flanked by hundreds of sphinx statues linking both temples. Experience how pharaohs like Ramesses II immortalised their legacies in stone.

Hypostyle Hall

134 colossal papyrus-shaped columns in the Great Hypostyle Hall — the largest columned hall in the world, built under Seti I and Ramesses II.

Sacred Lake & Obelisks

The serene Sacred Lake where ancient priests performed rituals. Queen Hatshepsut's soaring obelisk — still one of Egypt's tallest — and the Scarab of Amenhotep III.

Avenue of Sphinxes

The 3-km processional road connecting Karnak to Luxor Temple, lined with hundreds of human-headed sphinxes — recently restored to its ancient glory.

Practical tips

Make the Most of Your Visit

Start early

We depart at 08:00 to reach Karnak before the peak heat and tour groups. By afternoon, temperatures can exceed 40°C and the site becomes much busier.

What to wear

Light, comfortable clothing suitable for walking. Shoulders and knees should be covered when entering temples. Comfortable flat shoes are essential — Karnak covers over 100 hectares.

Photography

Outdoor photography is always free. Bring a wide-angle lens if you have one — the Hypostyle Hall columns are so large that a standard lens cannot capture their full scale.

Stay hydrated

We provide mineral water throughout the day, but bring extra. The Egyptian desert heat is dry and intense — even in winter, hydration is essential when walking outdoors.

Money & payment

Bring Egyptian pounds (EGP) for small purchases, souvenirs and tips. ATMs are available on the Luxor Corniche. Tour payment is in euros or EGP, cash only, on the day of the tour.

Combine with more

This tour covers Luxor's East Bank. Ask us about combining it with the West Bank (Valley of the Kings & Hatshepsut) for a complete 2-day Luxor experience.

What is included in the Karnak & Luxor Temple tour?
Everything is included: private hotel pick-up and drop-off in an air-conditioned vehicle, a certified English-speaking guide for the full day, all entrance tickets to Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple, an authentic local Egyptian lunch, and mineral water throughout. No hidden costs.
How long does the tour last?
The tour lasts approximately 8 hours — from 08:00 pick-up to around 16:30 return to your hotel. This allows comfortable, unhurried time at both Karnak Temple (about 2.5 hours) and Luxor Temple (about 1.5 hours), with a full lunch break in between.
Is the tour really 100% private?
Yes, absolutely. Your tour consists exclusively of your group, your certified guide and your driver. You are never combined with other tourists. You set the pace, spend as long as you like at each site, and ask questions freely without time pressure.
Can children visit Karnak Temple?
Yes — Karnak is suitable for all ages and the paths are mostly flat and walkable. Children under 12 receive a 50% discount on the tour price, and children under 4 join completely free. Let us know when booking and we'll adapt the pace accordingly.
Do I need to pay in advance?
No advance payment is required. Book via WhatsApp, receive confirmation within the hour, and pay in cash (euros or Egyptian pounds) at pick-up on the morning of the tour. Simple and hassle-free.
Can I combine this with the West Bank tour?
Yes — we recommend adding the West Bank (Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut, Colossi of Memnon) as a second day for the complete Luxor experience. Ask us about our 2-day combination package when you get in touch.
